Initials B.B: Beautiful Blonde / Brigitte Bardot / Big Budget / Beautiful Bag

Lancel has launched a new bag. The Brigitte Bardot. I got to thinking about how weird it would be to have a handbag named after you :
"I am coming Honey, let me grab my Brigitte Bardot", "Look at my Brigitte Bardot it is so convinient", "I need to return my Brigitte Bardot the color is all wrong!".

Now if that's not objectifying women...

movie magic...

Last night I went to see The King's Speech.  It was absolutely fantastic.  In fact, the more I think about it, the more I fall in love with Geoffrey Rush.  Do yourself a favor, go see this film!

Lovely little weekend...

I'm currently obsessed with the work of  Sebastiaan Bremer.  This weekend, I hope to inhabit one of his pieces....

Thought of the day

I don't smoke so when I am stressed out I listen to reallly bad music. I am embarrassed thinking anyone could actually hear what is going on in my ipod. What's more harmful?

Gather round the table, I'll give you a treat...

In an effort to maintain ample holiday spirit, my parents have called me every night of Channukah (so far this year) so that we can light candles and sing songs together.  (Though 24, you'd often think I was 7 by the way I'm coddled and worried after.  But honestly, who's complaining?)

I am instantly transported as we fluidly shift from prayers to the various songs our family has collected over there years: a classic learned in my 1st grade hebrew school class, "oh channukah, oh channukah come light my menorah, let's have a party, we'll all dance the hora" seamlessly transitions to a ditty my sister brought home from her 7th grade spanish lessons, "una candelika, dos candelikas....ocho condelas para mi.  ocho candelas para ti!  OYE"

It's our very own synthesis of tradition and evolution
all housed in the warmth of my apartment
the voices of my favorite people singing and laughing
together
at a distance

Happy Channukah & Cozy Winter, all!

Friday 19°F, Saturday 23°F

Paris isn't usually that cold and that snowy. Last week, the first snowflake touched the Parisian ground. As an ex-New Yorker nothing can make me happier – even though a true New Yorker wouldn't even call what’s falling from the sky: snow. It is way too delicate, not yet on the ground it is already gone - BUT in the eyes of Parisians, I see *panic*. In women’s outfits, I see confusion.

The last 3 winters were NY winters for me. And as the “snow” is falling I feel nostalgia.

winter, welcome!

I love this time of year - the bridge between Autumn and Winter.  I have always considered myself a summer baby (in part because my birthday is in July).  However, the older I get, the deeper my love of the chilly months grows!  This stretch of time from Thanksgiving - New Years is just so utterly yummy!  It's the perfect balance of family, friends, cooking, eating, drinking.  Not to mention, the warmth inside your home in contrast to the nippiness that awaits you outdoors...PERFECTION!

Em, Brooklyn and I miss you, hurry back to NY, please!!xxa

The lot behind my apartment is now housing CHRISTMAS TREES!

Seasonal Breakfast for dinner... complete with (rum-spiked) eggnog!

All I seem to want to do these days is make snowflakes to hang around my apartment and bakebakebake...

***(Em, this spinach, mushroom, and gruyere quiche is dedicated to you!
I'll post the recipe SOON!)***

And one last thing for the day, I simply can't get over the design of these milk cartons... all so quirky and vintage-looking.  I feel like they haven't been updated since they were originally designed sometime between 1945&1960.  Amazing!  (Look at that eggnog carton on the left...SO festive!)
