and that's what it's all about!

i found this article buried in the front section of monday's new york times and was totally captivated.  (i feel like so much of my college thesis was re-printed in the lines of this piece.) 

THIS is why people create art... it's not a  frivolous endeavour or something we choose to do because we're too lazy to come up with anything else.

art's driving force, in its purest form, is a matter of communication and connectedness.  this is why we act, sing, write, capture, and create.  it's a need rather than a want.
